Campaign info
Campaign will very story driven. Combat strength will vary, meaning sometimes you’ll be fighting a very weak opponent, sometimes you’ll be fighting a very strong opponent. Sometimes they’ll be an even match. So not all fights can be won, you’ll need to retreat some fights. I’ll promote tactical manoeuvres (including retreating if necessary) with XP bonus, but I’ll penalize bad decisions.
It will not be a hack-n-slash campaign, so choose skills wisely. (If you excel at a skill, describe it in your background story)
Race
If certain races exist within the party that wouldn’t normally get along with each other, this must be role-played.
Settings
Faerun, waterdeep. It is the 'year of shadows'. Myrkul's Legion and the Avatar of the Lord of Bones have just been defeated, ending the time of troubles. Waterdeep has suffered al lot of losses and parts of the city have been destroyed, including the Dock ward, Castle Ward and South ward. Also, many buildings in the market have been destroyed.
Your group was formed a couple of weeks before Myrkul's avatar had been killed (15 Marpenoth 1358 DR). Your main task included fighting some of the weaker undead forces, rescuing civilians aiding other groups.
The campaign will start shortly after all undead armies have been defeated/driven away (21 Marpenoth 1358 DR).
The weather
The campaign will start in the middle of autumn. The weather during this time can be fierce, especially in Waterdeep (waterdeep lies north and near the sea). Cold storms, hail, freezing rain, snow are frequent. So take this into account when buying adventuring gear.
Prerequisites
Background story (campaign will somewhat be based around those, so keep this in mind and make it a little interesting ) also describe character manners/how the char acts in background story. Post background story on forum. Dont mention your class, is is for other players to find out.
Send a complete background story to me via email (roanvanderploeg@gmail.com) or via msn. Add age or birthdates to important characters from your past.
Furthermore, I would like Faerunian names, or at least faerunian sounding names.
Post your character information/background what other party members may know on the forum, like so: topic "BG - firstname (character name)"
Alignment
Any, although characters are required to role-play them (that includes reacting to choices made by other party members, so in-party fights can be possible) make sure alignment and background story don’t contradict.
I’ll also allow characters with hidden agenda’s, consult me for details. Char’s with hidden agenda’s should role-play their char’s with this in mind.
If a char has a hidden agenda, this obviously doesn’t need to be posted on the forum, however I will need the complete background a character. (see above: Prerequisites)
Gear
Don't forget the nescesary adventuring gear like trail rations, waterskin, bedroll etc. Also you woudn't want to run around in nothing but a chainshirt and some boots so you'll probably need some kind of adventuring oufit (PH 131). Furthermore, take in to account the weather conditions.
Additional rules
- To make things more interresting Bluff will be a class skill for all classes.
- Base Attack Bonus for multiclassing will be adding actual scores (so wiz/sor multiclass will be 0,5 BaB + 0,5 BaB = 1.
- 1st lvl multiclassing is allowed as in DMG 3E, however consult me for details
- I'll allow 2 traits and 2 flaws, however they must fit you're character and they must be role-played. In addition players can gain additional flaws without the benefit of a feat. (i.e. a player can get critically hit in the arm and get the flaw 'shaky'
